Blog All the Things!

I really need to Blog more often. It has been way too long since I have blogged, and I have had several things to say. I must admit that I have written several blog posts, but they were too private to post on the internet. So this one is going to be updating you on everything, or as the title says: Six months ago, an amazing announcement was made. President Thomas S. Monson announced that the mission age has changed from 19 to 18 for young men and 21 to 19 for young women. This has changed everything here at BYU. Many young women have responded to this call and half of my ward is now in the mission field! This includes two of my bestest friends are going on mission. Sister Julia Taylor (left) is going to serve in Nicaragua. She left last Tuesday to go to the Guatemala MTC. Sister Anna Katie Giberson (right) is going to serve in Portugal. She leaves Wednesday to enter the Provo MTC. I am so proud of these two young women. I wish that I could be out there with t...

Taylor Swift Kinda Day...

I love Taylor Swift. Seriously. I am like every teen girl who says "Taylor Swift describes my life perfectly!!" Funny thing is though, I have never been in a relationship. I do not believe that you have to be in a relationship to feel all these relationship feelings. When I get involved in a crush, I get emotionally involved. This is probably not a good thing because, again I have never been in a relationship. I have had heart break several times. I have had my heart broken many times. But today is not one of those days. Today is one of those that I listen to those Taylor Swift songs that are happy. "Today was a Fairytale" "Stay, Stay, Stay" "Mine" "Love Song" have all been on my playlist today. It is a happy day today. But really, I think that everyday can be a "Taylor Swift Day". So now I sit here and have daydreams about a guy that probably doesn't know if I exist. Still, I am happy. :)

Birthday Testimony :)

I did this as part of my personal scripture study, but I thought that I would share it here.  I am another year older, but here is 20 things that I have a testimony of for you to enjoy. Have a wonderful day! Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. He suffered for our sins, our trials, and our troubles. Families can be together of. I am so grateful that I got stuck with a great family for all eternity. I can not imagine even one day without them! Heavenly Father is very aware of our circumstances. He puts us into the situations that we need to be put into. Heavenly Father answers prayers. They may not be loud answers, but quiet feelings. Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon. I am so grateful for this. Going through this challenge is making me even more grateful. The Book of Mormon is true. It is filled with all the right stuff. :) President Monson is a true prophet. He speaks the words of God to us today. I am grateful for this connection to God. The Priesthood is r...

"Normal Life"?

I have been in Utah for almost three weeks! I still have no idea what normal life is going to be like... For two weeks I was in intense training for my job. I was working from 9am to 4pm M-F. Have I talked about my job yet? I LOVE IT! I am a Freshman Mentoring Peer Mentor. I get to interact with the Freshman and make sure that they are able to take full advantage of all that BYU has to offer. I am basically here for them for wahtever they need. Have I mentioned how much I love it? But as part of my job, I got the opportunity to attend NSO again. Now, last year I did not like NSO that much. Infact, I kind of despised it. Why, you ask? It was just so long! Here is the schedule from this year (which it is very similar to what we did last year) Wednesday: 10:00 a.m. On-Campus Housing Check-in 8:00 p.m. Housing Move-in Socials Per Assigned Housing Thursday: 8:30-10:00 a.m. NSO Check-in, Meet Y Group 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Convocation 12:00-1:00 p.m. Lunch 1:00-3:00 p.m. E...

God is Always There

This seems to be a lesson that I keep having to learn over and over again. Heavenly Father is always there for us, even when we don't want Him to be. I cannot express in words how thankful I am to have a Heavenly Father who knows me so well and knows my needs so much better than I do. Let's rewind to two weeks ago: I was having a particularly stressful week at work. On Monday that week, I was put into Inspection with a lady I had never really worked closely with before. Everything was fine, but I didn't completely know what I would be doing the next day. The lady I was working with told me "Oh, I will just tell you what to do in the morning". Okay. That is fine with me. So the next morning I go into the room and start doing what she had told me to start before she got there. I was polishing capsules and the machine just wasn't working right. A supervisor came in and I asked what I was doing wrong. We come to find out that the humidity was too high to make ...

Tender Mercies

I am home. Actually, I have been home for almost 2 weeks now. All I have been doing is trying to get a job. Out of the blue, an old friend from my childhood ward came to visit our family and happened to know of a place that would hire me. Last Thursday, I started my job at a vitamin company. It is definately not the most exciting job in the world, but it is a full time job that pays better than minimum wage. By the end of the summer I should have enough money for at least two more semester of college. This is such a blessing to have gotten this job at this time. It is going to be long hours, but I know in the end it will be worth it. It is amazing how the Lord answers our prayers with things that we didn't even know we needed. Sometimes life is about those little tender mercies...

One Year Down!

I have made it through finals! I took four finals today and did well on (well) most of them. I am very excited just to be done. My freshman year is officially over. All that is left to do is to pack everything up and move out! It is just crazy...I still can't believe that it is already over. A year ago, I was writing a speech for graduation. I was working at Arby's. I was just looking forward to the opportunity to leave and start over new. Now, I am done with my first year of college. Only three more years until I am a teacher...
